Your books, in order.
Your questions, answered by a person.
We handle income tax, GST, audit and MCA compliance for owner-managed businesses across Tamil Nadu — and we explain what we're doing, in plain language, before the deadline rather than after it.
Books kept clean through the year are not just a filing requirement — they are what lets you borrow, sell, raise money or hand the business on without a scramble.
Four kinds of client, four kinds of worry.
Family businesses & traders
Decades of trading history, a GST return every month, and an accountant who left. We take over quietly and clean up what's behind.
Professionals & high-income individuals
Multiple income heads, capital gains, advance tax. Filed correctly the first time, with the planning done in advance.
NRIs with Indian obligations
Residential status, property and rental income, repatriation and DTAA relief — handled from here so you needn't fly in.
Startups needing clean books
Incorporation, MCA filings and books kept to a standard that survives a diligence request without a weekend of repair.
Everything a running business is required to file — and the advice around it.
Bookkeeping
Day-to-day books maintained properly through the year, so year-end is a review rather than a reconstruction.
Audit
Audit conducted to standard and on schedule, with observations raised as they arise rather than saved for the report.
GST compliance
Registration, monthly and annual returns, and reconciliation of input credit before it becomes a dispute.
Income tax
Returns for companies, firms and individuals, with the planning done before the year closes instead of at filing.
Company formation & MCA filings
Incorporation and the annual secretarial calendar handled by our in-house company secretary.
Bank projections & project reports
Projected financials and CMA data prepared to what lenders actually ask for, with assumptions you can defend in the meeting.
Management consultancy
The advisory conversation behind the compliance — costing, structure, and what the numbers are telling you.
The work that shows is not the work that matters.
Chinese bamboo is planted, watered and tended for five years with nothing at all to show above the ground. In the sixth year it can rise ninety feet in six weeks. Nothing changed in those six weeks — the root system had simply finished.
Books behave the same way. The year you need them — a bank sanction, a buyer's diligence, a departmental notice, a succession — is not the year you can build them. It is decided by the four or five quiet years before it, when nothing visible was happening.
Some would say the sanction came through in three weeks. We would say it came through in five years and three weeks.
Entries passed the month they happen
Not reconstructed in September out of a shoebox and a bank statement.
Input credit matched every quarter
So a supplier's lapse becomes your question in March, not the department's finding three years later.
Returns filed on the date
Interest and late fees are the cheapest expense to never incur.
Files that answer their own questions
When a lender, a buyer or an officer asks, the working paper already exists.
Which is why we keep one calendar of every client's GST, TDS, income tax and MCA dates and reach out before each one — you are never the one remembering. The full due-date list lives on our compliance page.
A Chennai practice, now under one name.
NEAT BOOKS™ is the practice R. Rahul founded in Chennai. In the profession since December 2010, ten of those years spent running an independent practice — that is the work sitting behind the name you see today.
The name is newer than the work. The same team advises the same owner-managed businesses it has advised for years; what changed is that the work now sits under one identity instead of several.
Qualified chartered accountants, a company secretary and experienced accounting staff work in-house. Attest engagements are delivered through a partner firm, so audit independence is preserved without sending you elsewhere.
You speak to the person doing the work
No account-management layer. The CA who reviews your file is the one who takes your call.
Deadlines tracked, not remembered
Your GST, TDS, income tax and MCA dates sit on one calendar. You hear from us before each one.
Notices answered, not forwarded
Departmental correspondence is drafted and represented by us, with the reasoning explained to you first.
We come to you
Distance need not decide your advisor. If it is easier, a member of the team will meet you at your own premises anywhere in Chennai — just say so when you get in touch.
Tell us where things stand.
A short conversation is usually enough to tell you what's required, what it costs, and whether we're the right practice for you. No charge for the first call.
Thank you — we have it.
We reply to every enquiry within one working day, usually the same afternoon.
